NiggasAndFriends (thank you Kid Fury for the name inspiration) is a space for Black folks to come where we can actually have real conversations without as much exposure to white fuckery. The fediverse writ large is just another libertarian white supremacist playground, and they have made it clear they don't want us around.

Nothing new about that, so Black fedizens move accordingly. We chose GoToSocial because unlike Mastodon it has been built from the ground up with an emphasis on safety & consent. Likewise, this instance will be set to allow-list only federation, meaning that we will be choosing with great care who we federate with. At least in the beginning, we will be federating predominantly (although not necessarily exclusively) with instances that are BIPOC-run. We will only connect to other servers going forward that have a well-documented history of robust moderation. Federation with NAF is a privilege and not a right. It will be difficult to gain and easy to lose, no apologies will be made for that.

We want a space where we can experience community and connection, rather than the antiblack alienation and abuse that lives on the vast majority of the fediverse. Where the white noise is a lil more muted and we can just kick back and relax with our people.

Our moderation practices are going to follow the same core principles as BlackQueerLife, although the hope is that less will be required due to our strict federation policies.
